You know. I have Thoughts now about Olric.

I originally wanted him added as a romance option (as do many others) and I think I changed my mind! I love him and he's amazing and supportive and he likes rocks but what I think so far that I really super love for him? Is how friendly he is and so far (I'm not far) he has zero romance related lines. Like he's not a romance option, but looking at the other NPCs (the innkeeper/wife, the general store owner/wife, the retired socialite who talks about past flings) I think Olric stands out as possibly the only one I can hope for aroace representation.

Let this guy just exist with the most positive vibes ever because he's just a good guy with positive vibes for everyone.

still thinking about gaz doing ghost’s skincare

even when they’re on base and the worst of the all-encompassing exhaustion is held at bay, he knows ghost doesn���t have the energy to spare to do any kind of in depth routine; knows as much as it makes him feel good to feel soft and clean and cared for, he won’t be able to keep up with it by himself

gaz just didn't expect how good it would feel to do it for him

how accomplished he'd feel when he figured out the right combination of products to soothe ghost's sensitive neglected skin without him breaking out or getting even more dehydrated, the best moisturiser for his scars, researching no-wash products so he doesn't have to get up once they've started; all ghost has to do is lay back and let gaz work

it's an honour, not only to be trusted enough with ghost's - with simon's - face but also to watch him lose every ounce of tension in his body

they usually - and how amazing that they have a usual, that this has become a routine - end up with ghost's head in his lap, a soft pillow beneath his head so he can just rest. it's not uncommon for him to fall asleep entirely as gaz follows his steps

bottles of cleansers and serums and moisturisers all bought just for him, each one dutifully researched with ghost's skin type in mind, all stored in a black leather bag moulded into a skull bc gaz found it browsing one day and thought it was too perfect. ghost doesn't even know what they all do, just knows how blissful it is to feel the gentle pressure of gaz's fingers massaging his face; following the contours of scars that haven't pulled or flared since they started doing this

gaz never tells him about the rollers he could use instead, the applicators that are technically better for his skin bc it would mean he'd know that gaz uses his hands just for him; that he can feel how much he craves his touch and knows he enjoys it just as much, if not more than the actual results

gaz just tells him that a thorough massage after everything is applied is necessary for all the products to marry up and sink properly into his skin and spends the next half hour smiling down at his superior as he lets go of all his pain and trusts him to keep him afloat

There's this one stream from June where Hbomberguy plays Tactical Brach Wizards and chats with Tom Francis (the game's creator, writer and developer), and the whole thing is really interesting! They talk mostly about the development of the game and some of what Tom says is already on the Developer's Comment in the special edition, BUT there are some lore things/fun details that I found interesting:

Being a wizard in this world is regarded more or less the same way as being a doctor in ours ("It's impressive, but no one's like, 'oh my god, can i get an autograph'")

Jen's mom is an arcanist

Bank's heart "canonically isn't pounding" in the missions because "she's used to life and death situations"

Banks "cares about who lives and dies"

Tom mentions that Banks doesn't have as good of a relationship with the rest of the team, and that her and Jen's relationship is "hot and cold" (LMAO)

Darrell's hiding spots were all basically John Roberts' idea (the game's sole artist)

The world of Tactical Breach Wizards (as in, the geography and literal placement of countries) intentionally does not look like the real world. "The DSR resembles the UK and America in some ways", but isn't really a 1 to 1 so "they don't map to real clichés and dynamics of the world".

something interesting to be said about how despite mahiru being in a wedding dress she doesnt have a ring........... something about how she is obsessed with this idea of love but doesnt actually seem to have anyone in mind - her boyfriend was just the first to give her any kind attention she wants so she obsessed over him. she is in love with the idea of love

did we ever figure out if mic not having visible nostrils was a stylistic choice or if he anatomically does not have nostrils bc if he doesn’t that’s dumb as hell

as a worldbuilding girlie, mic's anatomy is a source of unending interest to me. it gets into the whole discussion of how much does a non mutation quirk change the body to suit it and also how far can those changes go before it’s classified as a mutation quirk altogether

his body should be geared towards getting oxygen to his lungs and also storing as much oxygen as physically possible. i love his lungs being abnormally large for a human body, his diaphragm thinner and stretchier to allow for more inflation, his ribcage wider and deeper maybe even made entirely of cartilage instead of bone (which would make his decision to either physically fight or remain a long range fighter even more interesting bc he’s more likely to be critically injured if he’s hit centre mass (but he still has a named super move that is a punch so he chooses to physically fight anyway (which hello interesting characterisation what could be the motive behind that 👀))

his entire internal system could look completely different to accommodate for his enlarged lungs; he’d probably have to have a bigger heart and veins to pump a higher than normal blood volume in order to support them, he’d probably get dehydrated at the drop of a hat so would need more water than average which would affect the bladder and maybe the kidneys

we all make gag reflex jokes but what if the structure of his throat is completely different? what if his airway is wider, stealing room from his oesophagus so it grew smaller than average and it’s forced him to adapt the way he eats, even cutting out certain stiffer/thicker foods altogether? (think foods that don’t chew down) what if he has to have a near liquid diet or all food has to be cut up super small or with some kind of sauce to help him swallow? disabilities present in so many different ways, we already give him sight and hearing impairments but if he has digestion issues too? that is so interesting to explore and would also give him a unique relationship with all might, since all might had to adapt to his sudden restrictions whereas mic would’ve dealt with it all his life and could give him unique, actually helpful tips and coping mechanisms

when he uses his loud voice special move against the doctor, his chest comically distends and that could easily just be typical anime body exaggeration but what if it isn’t? if he has stretch marks all over his chest and torso from his skin rapidly stretching and splitting? what would his workout routine look like since he’d need greater upper body mass to support his muscles, which also need to be able to handle flexing to an insane degree to allow for the distension?

all this to say

taking away his nostrils - a main way of getting oxygen into the body - makes no sense
